Sometimes learning French can be as easy as turning on a Netflix show. The hit French TV show Call My Agent! (Dix Pour Cent, in French) has encouraged many people to start picking up colloquial expressions and a more “native” way of speaking. So here are some handy vocab words and phrases from the first episode of your new favorite show, for you to follow along with as you binge.
Le tournage – Filming/Shooting a film
Matthias: “Vous me parlez de 20 jours de tournage.” (“You told me it would be 20 days of shooting.”)
La projection – Screening
Magali: “T’as déjà la projection du film de Keniche.” (“You already have the screening for the Keniche film.”)
Chiante – Annoying/Aggravating
Andrea: “Putain, t’es chiante, Magali!” (“Damn, you’re so aggravating, Magali!”)
Tant pis – So much worse/Oh well/Tough
Andrea: “Tant pis, je déjeunerai deux fois.” (“Oh well, I’ll have two lunches.”)
Comédien(ne) – Actor/Actress
Sofia: “Si vous êtes comédienne, vous posez votre photo et votre CV ici.” (“If you’re an actress, you can leave your photo and CV here.”)
Maîtriser – Master
Gabriel: “Je croyais que tu maîtrisais à fond.” (“I thought you had already mastered this.”)
Rappeler – To call
Cecile: “Je te rappelle tout à l’heure.” (“I’ll call you back later.”)
Un bobard – Lie/fib/B.S.

Signer – To sign

Plaisanter – To joke

Louper – To miss

Raccrocher au nez – To hang up on someone
