A panel of key experts from all corners of the vast USA network of over 100 Alliance Française chapters have put their heads together to bring a highly instructive session to you via Zoom on February 9 2021. The replay is now available above or on our YouTube channel.

Pauline, Séverine, Rachel and Bryn covered concrete tips on how to sound French, told you where and how to focus your studies for the maximum benefit and fastest results, and shared the worst “gaffes” and errors to avoid—the toughest stumbling blocks for Anglophones who want to do justice to “la langue de Molière”.

No matter your current level or how high your ambitions are for your personal mastery of French, you’ll come away from this entertaining session with brilliant inspiration and newfound confidence!

The speakers

Pauline Chateau

Pauline is the educational coordinator of AFSeattle, where she also teaches children and adult classes of all levels. Born and raised in Normandy, she received her master’s degree in teaching French as a Foreign Language in 2017 from the University of Artois, and she has a BA in art history (2012) and an MA in management of performing arts (2014). She began teaching French in 2014 and joined AFSeattle in 2018.

Dr. Séverine Bates

Dr. Séverine Bates, a native of Martinique, specializes in contemporary French and Francophone literature. She received her MA and Ph.D. in French from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She also has a Licence in History and a Maîtrise in Ancient History from the Université Paul Valéry -Montpellier III, France. She has been teaching in the university system and at the Allliance Française of Minneapolis for several years.

Rachel Villéger

Rachel Villéger is the Executive Director of the Alliance Française of Westchester, NY. She has been teaching French to students of all ages and all levels since 2003 and is an accredited DELF-DALF examiner. Having taught French on three different continents, Rachel has an in-depth understanding of the challenges that learners face in their quest for fluency in French.

Bryn Vaaler

Président, Alliance Française of Minneapolis/St. Paul and member of the Board of Directors of the Fédération des Alliances Françaises USA. Vaaler is a retired corporate lawyer and law professor who holds a B.A. degree in French and J.D. degree from University of Minnesota.
