Hôtel Square Louvois: A Traveler’s Oasis in the Bustling City of Paris

A made bed in a hotel room

When you’re out and about exploring a new city, all you want to do at the end of the day is relax. Located in the heart of Paris, Hotel Square Louvois is the ideal spot for any traveler looking to unwind with a bit of luxury.

The Vibe: A four-star hotel, Square Louvois’s regal, mid-century mod decor is refined yet welcoming. It has the same regal coziness as a library — a fitting comparison once you see the number of books lining the walls of the lobby. Dark blues, smoky grays, and golds are the colors of choice, furthering the feeling that you are a world away from the city and entering an impermeable oasis.

The clearest indicator that Hotel Square Louvois is a space to rest and relax is the absence of a hotel bar. Hotel bars are often loud, welcoming patrons from off the street; Square Louvois is your restful escape from that.

The Rooms: Expect mid-century modern stylings with minimalist decor — just two framed photographs on a ledge above the bed. Nothing is overdone, it’s just simple luxuries. The bed is comfortable, covered in pillows, and the heavy velvet curtains ensure quiet and darkness while you sleep. Bathrobes and a towel warmer, a Nespresso machine and a TV with several English channels, space to work at a desk with a lamp. An abundance of shelving and closet space provides you the ability to really unpack, settle in, and feel at home.

The Food & Drink: Fulfilling its role as the provider of a calm within the city, Square Louvois provides what travelers really want: an expansive breakfast buffet, an afternoon tea time, and wine. Eggs, baguette, cheese and charcuterie, fruit, yogurt, viennoiseries and more are served in the lounge until a lazy morning-allowing 11 a.m. In the afternoon, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. when most people like to return to their hotel for a nap or to change clothes before dinner, guests will find tea, coffee drinks, viennoiseries, jams, and more. For those fearing the absence of a bar in their hotel, wine is for sale in a fridge in the lobby.

The Amenities: It’s the below-ground floor of the hotel that best exemplifies the commitment to relaxation. A small pool lined with soothing water jets, awaits you in a cave-like room with dim lighting and uneven stone walls. An antechamber of comfy chairs, towels, machine for making tea is yet another space to find your inner peace. A gym with a few workout balls, free weights, and machines is there as well. Spa services are available upon request.

The library, a space of 360-degrees of books, doubles as a workspace. You’re allowed to borrow any of the books in the hotel, even take them with you if you haven’t finished by the time you have to check out. Small alcoves in the lobby contain international press and computers.

The Location: In the second arrondissement, just a few minutes from the Metro, the Palais Royale and the Louvre, the hotel is located on a very quiet street. The beautiful Square Louvois, with its fountain and small playground, is just down the street. Hotel Square Louvois is at the heart of a neighborhood full of Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Korean restaurants on rue Saint-Anne and rue des Petits Champs, plus a variety of new era French restaurants on rue Vivienne and rue Saint-Augustin.

The Service: The staff are very attentive. All speak English and there’s someone at the front desk at all times. The concierge offers a variety of additional conveniences like lending outlet adapters and storing luggage after check-out.

The Reason to Go: Hotel Square Louvois knows what people want in a hotel: to relax, rejuvenate, and rest for your next day of travel. From the central attractions like the pool, tea room and tea time to the small details like the books you can take from the shelves, the bottles of wine for sale in the lobby so you don’t have to go to the wine store, and the towel warmer, Hotel Square Louvois will be the sigh of relief and oasis of peace you need before your next big Parisian adventure.
