Through this opportunity, select high school students from around the world will join a community of international students for an innovative leadership experience on the HEC Paris campus.

The intensive, one-week Youth Leadership Initiative program is open to students aged 15 to 17 who are motivated to develop their communication and leadership skills. Elyse Michaels-Berger, Director of the Youth Leadership Initiative and Summer School programs, believes in the importance of the initiative. “Now more than ever, impactful leaders are needed in our communities,” she shared. “We intend for participants to leave the Youth Leadership Initiative aware of their impact, confident and inspired to put their learning into action.”

The launch of the Youth Leadership Initiative builds on the success of HEC Paris’ Summer School, founded in 2014 with the pioneer program on inclusive and social business strategies. Since then, the Summer School has expanded to over 10 programs, led by HEC professors in cutting-edge domains ranging from inclusive and social business strategies, to energy as well as entrepreneurship, geopolitics, globalization and business strategy, finance, luxury and fashion management, and digital marketing, among others.

Across all programs, summer students confront real-world challenges while working in diverse teams. For the past two years, over 50 nationalities have been represented on campus in the summer. “One of our goals is for students to learn through teamwork with their international peers. Every interaction is an opportunity for learning,” emphasized Michaels-Berger. According to a Turkish Summer School attendee, Esin Yunusoglu, who is currently a student at Princeton University, this goal is easily fulfilled: “The focus on intercultural communication and understanding with international classmates through teamwork was one of the highlights of my experience at HEC Paris.”

For former Summer School participant and incoming HEC Paris master’s student from the Netherlands, Dorian Dufour Vorfeld, the HEC Paris Summer School experience was a formative one. “It will challenge you and equip you with essential tools for your future,” he said. “But it might also leave you wanting more and wishing that you could spend another two weeks, or two years, at HEC.”
