11 Most Haunted Places in France

A castle on top of a building

Any country steeped in as much history as France might logically leave behind a few ghosts.

This video will take you on a tour of the 11 most (allegedly) haunted locations throughout France. None are too surprising, but thanks to France’s often bloody history of wars and revolutions, there are plenty of places to get your fill of spooks if you’re into that kind of thing. And once you begin looking, you’ll be surprised France isn’t flooded with specters! Countless artists, writers, and revolutionaries died on French soil, many of them not even French. From Oscar Wilde to Jim Morrison, Paris has been the place for famous foreigners to meet their maker.

And that’s not even getting to the royals. It’s said that at the Palace of Versailles, you can see Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI wandering around, searching for their guillotined heads. Too bad you won’t get to see their wigs!
