Wanda Sykes Explains How She’s Raising Her Kids French

According to American comedian Wanda Sykes, just because her kids have one French parent and one American parent doesn’t mean that they’re fifty-fifty French and American. “I would say they are probably 70% French, 30% American,” Skyes said of her 10-year-old twins.

On Monday, June 3, Sykes spoke with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show about how she and her French wife are raising their twins. “Everything is very French.”

The kids’ behavior, explained Sykes, is where their favored culture manifests itself clearly. “It’s always about a baguette,” she lamented. “There’s cheese just about every day.”

Sykes has long been happy to talk about her brushes with French culture and language on late night shows.
