How To Make Vegan Croissants

French cuisine is known for one thing: Butter.

How else is it possible to create delicious, flaky, melt-in-your-mouth pastries, like France’s most famous breakfast item: the croissant?

Since a croissant is basically 90% butter, they aren’t the best breakfast choice for someone who is on a vegan diet. But, thanks to the YouTube channel Vegan Encounters, which makes vegan versions of all the best foods in their recipe videos, vegans can have the chance to enjoy the delightfulness that is a French croissant.

Substituting the butter with solid vegan butter (which is pretty easy to find even at a regular grocery store) and the egg wash with agave syrup and plant milk, these croissants come out looking puffy and wonderful, just like the real thing!

Is veganizing this French classic a complete betrayal of the cultural importance that is the French cuisine? I guess the only way to know for sure is to try the croissants for yourself!
