How to Get a Natural Parisian Makeup Look

Many in the French Girl Beauty camp look to minimalism as a defining principle of the genre. Just look at Violette, whose new makeup collection contains a single all-in-one toner/serum/moisturizer spray.

Others prefer more of a “more is less” approach. Parisian makeup artist Leslie Dumeix just dropped a beauty tutorial for Vogue Paris designed, apparently, to show off every product advertised in Vogue Paris. Then ten-minute tutorial starts with the usual routine of creams, serums, and hydrating mists, before moving on to multiple foundations and correctors, as well as at least three under-eye concealers. This regimen is a maximalist’s dream, and proof that (although Dumeix is naturally stunning), looking like a parisienne isn’t always a completely effortless affair, as we’ve suspected for years.

The end result is a natural, glowy look that emphasizes the Parisians’ love of big eyebrows, soft skin, and eyelash curlers. But this subtle aesthetic contains plenty of tricks for avoiding common makeup faux pas, so that you can make the most of your time in front of the mirror, no matter how many products you have.
