The Brooklyn Cassoulet Cook-off Will Return in January 2019

A plate of food with a fork and knife

Cassoulet fans, rejoice! Once again, there will be a taste of the southwest of France in Brooklyn on Saturday, January 26, 2019. For the 11th time, Cassoulet Cook-off, organized by New York restaurateur Jimmy Carbone, will open its doors to amateur and professional chefs who wish to pay tribute to or revisit this traditional bean-based dish.

The event will be held in the Biba Williamsburg space and will include an awards ceremony at the end. The 15 chosen cooks will bring their preparations already ready to eat starting at 11am and will be evaluated both by a designated jury and the public from 1pm to 4pm. Tickets should be bought in advance.

Hopeful chefs can register for the event by sending their full name, phone number and any culinary references to [email protected]. In addition to serving cassoulet, the competition, co-organized by Lew Bryson, author of Tasting Whiskey, will also offer whiskey, homemade beers, cider and wine tastings.
