Not planning to be in France for July 14th, but still in the mood to party? In Houston, in celebration of Bastille Day, the Consulate General of France and the Alliance Française have given carte blanche to DJ Barbara Butch. On Sunday, July 13th, the artist, who took part in the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will get the French—and their American friends—dancing with a concert entitled “Liberty on the Dance Floor,” mixing the energy of the Olympic playlist with the rhythms of Texas country.
From 4 pm to 6 pm, the program includes gourmet food stands, pétanque tournaments, entertainment for young and old, and an exhibition of vintage cars (French, of course). Then, from 6 pm to 7 pm, there will be an official ceremony with the presentation of awards, and the singing of the “Marseillaise.” Finally, at 7 pm, it’s time for music and dancing, with the DJ at the turntables. The evening will conclude with a drone air show in the Houston skies. The event is free, but make sure to reserve your place here.
Bastille Day 2025 will be a special one for the Consulate: As Valérie Baraban completes her term of office in Texas, she’ll be bidding farewell with a musical flourish!
Location: Alliance Française de Houston, 427 Lovett Boulevard.
