French DJ Petit Biscuit Makes Chill Electro Music

Did you ever think that you would here electronic music and think, “wow, this is really chill!”? Neither did we, until we heard Petit Biscuit.

At age 17, Mehdi Benjelloun (Petit Biscuit is his stage name) has already established himself as a respected French DJ and producer, and had a hit album that reached #1 on the iTunes electro charts. Even more impressive, he did it all while finishing his senior year in high school and studying for Le Bac exam (he passed). He’s trained in classical music, and likes indie groups like the XX. As for why he chose the name Petit Biscuit (“Little Cookie”), he wanted something simple, humble, and very French—all qualities that he says reflect his personality.

His first self-titled EP Petit Biscuit dropped 10 months ago to rave reviews, earning him nicknames like “the little prince of electro.” As of March 17th, 2017, the album’s lead single “Sunset Lover” has spent 26 weeks on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic chart, and is #13 on France’s Top 100 chart. Petit Biscuit is on the up and up globally; his North America tour is already sold out.
