Saint Laurent’s Ready-to-Wear Show is GLOW-meets-GoT

Over the last chaotic year, we have turned to fashion designers like fortune tellers, looking in their work for the signs of life to come.

Well, Saint Laurent has chosen to paint us a pretty striking picture. Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello chose his location before designing the collection for his new Fall 2021 Ready-to-Wear line. The wintry backdrop of jaw dropping cliffs and rock beaches laden with massive chunks of ice (mirrored in the rocks dripping from each model’s ears and neck) is in cold contrast to the 80s metallic bodysuits and prim 60s tailored jackets of the models. It ends up looking like someone plopped the cast of GLOW in the middle of a Game of Thrones epic battle.

Yet the effect manages to be spectacular instead of confusing, a rock ‘n’ roll mood that could be just the thing we need as we emerge from quarantine, a little hardened, a little hopeful, dressed in our Saturday night best for a walk alone on the beach.
