What do you get when two style icons—one from Paris, one from New York—sit down for a chat?
Fashion blogger and New York fashionista Leandra Medine—known for her blog Man Repeller, and her mish-mash style that’s determined to literally repel men, but ends up looking chic every time—sat down to talk with French model and style icon Inès de la Fressange, who you may know from her book Parisian Chic in which she details how to live a chic Parisian lifestyle.
Besides a quick lesson in drawing, Medine and de la Fressange discussed what it is that makes New York and Parisian style so different.
“In France they don’t want to show they made any effort,” said de la Fressange about French women’s style. “When they can afford brands and luxury brands, they keep going to Monoprix and the cheap places, and they mix things.”
Medine and de la Fressange also discussed essential items every fashion girl must have in their closet, things like a navy blue sweater, or as de la Fressange said, “quite boring things that nobody wants to buy.”
