For Jeanne Balibar’s fans, it’s going to be like Christmas came early. In September and October, the French actress will be featured in a film series at French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) in New York. The series begins on Tuesday, September 11, with a retrospective.
As part of its CinéSalon, FIAF will screen several films by this talented actress: “Dieu seul me voit” (September 11), “L’idiot” and “Mange ta soupe” (September 18), “L’armée des ombres” (September 25), “Ne touchez pas la hache” (October 2), “Ça ira mieux demain” (October 9), “Barbara” (October 9), “Comédie de l’innocence” (October 16), “Trois ponts sur la rivière” (October 23), “Le plaisir de chanter” (October 30), and finally “Par exemple, Electre” (October 30). All films will be screened in French with English subtitles.
Balibar herself will be present for Q&A sessions after the screening of “Barbara,” for which she won a César award for Best Actress in 2018, and “Ne touchez pas la hache” (7:30pm session).
On October 13, Balibar will present the world premiere of her play “Les historiennes,” about the work of three historians, performed as a part of FIAF’s annual Crossing the Line festival.
