With all the upcoming rain about to drench the Big Apple, there’s nothing better than hiding out in a movie theatre, enjoying a film.
In partnership with the famous Cinémathèque Française, the Quad Cinema will be screening a selection of classic French melodramas from May 16-22.
When you think of a classic French melodrama — strained relationships, forbidden lovers, lots of cigarettes, troubled souls, a dramatic ending that’s far from fairytale-perfect — that’s exactly what you can expect to find on screen at this West Village theatre. The height of French cinema, les mélos will make you laugh, cry, and wish we had more films like them in the United States. All films are in French with English subtitles. (Buy tickets here.)
