(Sponsored article) Located in Paris’s ninth arrondissement, Galeries Lafayette Haussmann is an experience not to be missed. Four bloggers were invited to the Galeries during Paris Fashion Week to experience this amazing Parisian shopping opportunity.

Travel blogger Christine Tran, based in San Francisco, CA has written her blog, Tour de Lust, about her jet-setting life. Galeries Lafayette offered her a trip to their flagship store in Paris to show off their wanderlust-worthy destination. “For anyone visiting Paris, a visit to Galeries Lafayette is a must!” raved the expert traveler.

Christine’s blog is about traveling and wanderlust, and Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in Paris fits that bill perfectly. It’s in a prime location by the Palais Garnier opera house and the Madeleine, in a stunning, Haussmann-style building. The area is full of stores, cafés, and luxury hotels like the W Hotel where Christine stayed. “The hotel is conveniently located a block from Galeries Lafayette and the metro,” said the blogger. “It’s also a very chic, modern and super trendy hotel from the moment you step through the doors.”

As one of the most famous department stores in the world, Galeries Lafayette possesses a cultural significance that has influenced French style and living since the store’s creation in 1893. “Anyone can reserve a 45-minute guided tour to learn about Galeries Lafayette’s history. I highly recommend it,” said Christine. “It’s quite interesting to learn how Galeries Lafayette got started.”

Though Galeries Lafayette is a department store, they offer much more. “The store is quite massive and anyone can easily spend an entire day shopping, eating at the gourmet food market – or spend the day pampering yourself at the salon,” explained Christine. Galeries helps with your Parisian experience from the moment you step in the store all the way until Customs on your way home. “Many Americans may not know that they are able to request a tax refund from a machine!” said Christine. In the store, there are 18 tax refund desks where shoppers can get a VAT refund (12%) on Galeries Lafayette purchases over €175. All you need is your passport and receipt. Once the desk clerks print your tax refund slip, you can use the machines that helped Christine. “It’s quick, easy and you don’t have to wait in long lines at the airport to get your cash.” After that, all you have to do is get your slip validated at airport by Customs. (Make sure to read the Galeries Lafayette website for specifics on eligibility and how to get your return.)

And for the pièce de resistance, anyone with wanderlust must visit the rooftop. “The La Terrasse Rooftop at Galeries Lafayette is probably one of the best in Paris!” raved Christine. “Best time to go is during sunset!” The 360-view of Paris will make any traveler long for the city of lights and love long after they’ve departed.
