Who Wore Chanel at Cannes 2019?

A woman looking at the camera

“Walking up the stairs is daunting at Cannes, but if you are in Chanel then you have good company with you.”

That’s British actress Tilda Swinton, one of many top tier international actresses who made an appearance on the red carpet at the 2019 Cannes film festival. Though the festival’s highest award, the Palme d’Or, went to the South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s film Parasite, the media always gives a few honorary awards — not to the participants, but to the attendees. The Cannes red carpet is practically an extension of Paris Fashion Week, and this year was no exception. Actresses like Margot Robbie, Penelope Cruz, and Marion Cotillard were decked out in Chanel, and this video shows some of the French fashion house’s stars of the season.

Not everyone can win the Palme D’Or. But if you’re wearing Chanel, aren’t you already a winner?
