VR Jetpack Simulator Gives Riders Bird’s Eye View of Paris

A view of a city

Thanks to this incredible new VR technology, some lucky tourists and locals will get to witness Paris like they’ve never seen it before.

The tech company FlyView, based in Paris, has developed a VR simulator that makes riders feel like they are flying by jetpack over the French capital. Riders are strapped into a fake jetpack that moves with the 360° panoramic video feed being viewed through their VR goggles. You can watch the Place de la Concorde, the Grand Palais, and Notre Dame move beneath your feet, and soar up close to the Eiffel Tower, hundreds of feet above the crowds.

Rides are 12 minutes long and cost 15€ apiece, and reservations are highly recommended. Not bad considering that the cost to see the same view from the top of the Eiffel Tower can be up to €25. And if you can’t make it to Paris, don’t worry—FlyView is planning on expanding to North America, Asia, Africa, and more.

Check out the 360-view video above to sample the tour (use your mouse or finger to drag the video and see any angle of Paris, just like someone in a VR headset would see). If you don’t speak French and want to hear more about the FlyParis, click here.
