How to Get the “French Kissed” Makeup Look

Getting French girl style is about more than buying a certain lipstick or wearing the right kind of off-the-shoulder sweater. It’s about using your passions and intellectual curiosities as inspiration to create something simultaneously fresh and familiar.

For this video, Estée Lauder Global Beauty Director and #frenchgirlstylegoals Violette took her inspiration from the film L’Amant, or The Lover, based on the autobiographical novel of the same name written by French novelist Marguerite Duras. The film’s young heroine had a classically French trademark look of braids, a man’s boat hat, and blurred red lipstick. Violette steals this lipstick look for what she calls her signature “French Kissed” makeup look, where she blends a “fruity” red lipstick to make it look less harsh and more accessible.
