Trump and Macron Attend Bastille Day Parade

A group of people walking down the street

U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife Melania joined French President Emmanuel Macron to watch the Bastille Day parade on July 14 in Paris.

Trump seemed to be majorly enjoying himself at the military parade, which was extraordinarily ornate, with every class of the French military marching down the Champs Elysées. But perhaps he was just glad to be away from the chaos at the White House, after he said in a joint press conference with Macron the day before that his son Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with Russian officials was a strategic measure.

At the press conference, Macron and Trump, discussed the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entering World War I, and the two countries’ long-held friendship. But even though the U.S. and France have been buddies for a long time, it seems like Macron and Trump may be more “frenemies.” Despite the niceties, the two continue to do things that irk one another, like Trump made a particularly uncomfortable comment on Brigitte Macron’s appearance loud enough for the media to hear.

On top of that, Macron heavily hinted at the press conference that he’s not about to give up the idea of a climate agreement, despite Trump’s climate denial.

But… it’s Bastille Day, so like Trump, it’s best to forget about all the political chaos and enjoy the festivities. Check out the Bastille Day military parade in the video above.
