French Ice Dancing Duo Wins Silver in the Olympics with this Beautiful Routine

For some couples, romantic means a teddy bear and footing the bill at Chipotle.

Not for this incredible Olympic duo, Gabrielle Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron. The soundtrack was Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata, and the backdrop the shimmering ice rink in Pyeongchang’s Olympic arena. They won silver in the ice dancing category, an enormous relief after Papadakis’s wardrobe malfunction earlier in the week cost them both points in the short dance.

Their ethereal and balletic style differed strongly from that of the red-hot sexuality of the Canadian gold-winners, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. But anyone can see that even if France did not win the gold in this competition, they did win the awe and respect of everyone involved, and all of the pajama pant-clad viewers at home.
