Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019 is in full beat, and the competition to impress is far from just about the clothes.
French cosmetics giant L’Oréal wowed audiences this week by holding their runway on a floating barge on the Seine, with models taking a copper speedboat to get to their places. The fresh from childbirth actress Eva Longoria made headlines in a tiered floral print gown, while a surprise ending revealed Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of Game of Thrones fame, who repped serious House of Lannister colors. Actress Andie MacDowell also took to the runway (and later the microphone) to discuss ageism in fashion. And she wasn’t the only odd one out, with a strikingly diverse display of models on the stage.
As the first every PFW contributor to hold an aquatic fashion show on the Seine, this will be a tough display to top. But L’Oréal should be congratulated on its efforts to showcase diversity in its choice models (or, at the very least, some pretty sly tokenism). Stay tuned for more #pfw coverage.
