Remembering Valerie Gladstone, French Morning Writer and Art Lover

A person posing for the camera

There are no music or dance venues in New York City that Valerie Gladstone, an arts writer critic, author and editor, didn’t visit on a regular basis.

Night after night, she would waltz in—a trim, and elegant silhouette, her eyes sparkling with spirit, and whether she sat in the audience or on stage leading lively Q&As after the dance performances she curated at the Museum of Arts & Design and the Emelin Theater, she radiated passion for the arts and for life.

A seasoned traveler, Ms. Gladstone kept her readers abreast of happenings in her beloved Spain but also everywhere else in Europe. She wrote regularly for French Morning, the New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Town & Country and many others.

Valerie Gladstone died of cancer on October 21st. She is sorely missed by her two children, five grandchildren, three brothers, and many close friends around the world.
