KCON, the annual K-Pop music festival, made its European debut this month in Paris, and fans from all over Europe traveled to France to see some of their favorite Korean pop stars.

KCON started in 2012 and originally was held only in the U.S. and Japan, but has started to tour elsewhere as K-Pop music has grown in popularity over the last few years. In France, K-Pop has become hugely popular, prompting the first ever European KCON to be held in Paris.

Even if you’re not a K-Pop aficionado, you still probably know songs like Psy’s Gangnam Style, which went viral globally in 2012. While not every K-Pop song is like Gangnam Style, they’re usually pretty similar, featuring upbeat pop songs with a lot of audiovisual elements, such as dance moves or a brightly colored music video.

Paris’ KCON featured some of the most popular K-Pop groups in the industry such as the all girl group IOI, BTS (Bangtan Boys) and SHINee. Along with performances, K-Pop fans also got the chance to experience some Korean culture by trying food, watching fashion shows and hearing from their favorite Korean stars at panels and talks.
