First Downtown, then Uptown, and now Midtown—Maison Kayser strikes again.
The French boulangerie (that’s “bakery” to the non-bilinguals) founded by Eric Kayser continues its New York domination with the opening of its 11th location, between 55th and 56th street on 6th avenue. This won’t be the first Maison Kayser in Midtown; there’s a store at Columbus Circle and another next to Bryant Park.
For this new location, the master won’t be changing his recipe: there will be a boulangerie-pâtisserie (that’s “pastry shop” to the non-bilinguals) counter, a coffee bar for your caffeine hit to go, a fridge of pre-made lunch goodies, and a café with the capacity to seat 50 people. And honestly, the recipe doesn’t need to change. There are fluffy-flakey croissants, stunningly-scrumptious pastries, and well-priced freshly made sandwiches—what could possibly be better?
But Maison Kayser (always thinking ahead) figured out what would be better. Doing more of what they do best, an assortment of 25 new artisanal breads will be sold in the new location. In addition, shoppers will be able to order warm dishes like croque-monsieur to-go from a hot station.
In 2016, Eric Kayser won the Best Baguette New York competition in 2016, as put on by French Morning.
