“Meme Couture” Breaks Internet At Paris Fashion Week

Haute couture: the epitome of taste, style, and timeless quality. Or maybe not so much.

The Dutch fashion design team Viktor & Rolf, long known for blurring the lines between fashion and art, decided to use their time on the Spring/Summer 2019 Haute Couture runway at Paris Fashion Week to create what might be the most Reddit-ready couture line in history. Enormous tulle concoctions were emblazoned with “Mood” worthy slogans like, “I’m Not Shy, I Just Don’t Like You,” and, “Go F* Yourself.” One particular blue and grey ruffled monstrosity simply has “NO” pinned to the front in huge red letters.

Though some are calling out the fashion house for creating deliberate clickbait, the Internet does not seem to care, with photos of the dresses riding a viral hurricane. Say what you want; these gowns are definitely the “fashion statements” of the week.
