If your New Year’s resolution is to start cooking more, get a jump start on that now. On January 12, New York’s cooking school Atelier Sucre is offering a galette des rois cooking class.
Though the actual day of Epiphanie will have passed, as the French know well, people eat galette des rois (King Cake) throughout January. In this class, you’ll learn a pastry dough folding technique, how to make light custards and creams, and the best way to bake this traditional winter treat. Each person gets to take home their own galette des rois with a fève hidden inside — whoever finds it is “king”! (Oh, and one more thing: the class is BYOB.)
The class is open to people of all skill level and experience. Reserve your spot now because classes are kept small and sell out fast.
