A Tribute to Women in Film at Uptown Flicks in Harlem

Uptown Flicks will be paying tribute to women in front of and behind the cameras. In partnership with She for S.H.E, the networking group for Francophone women in New York, two female-focused films will be screened at Maysles Cinema on Thursday, October 24.

At 6:30pm, the evening will start with the film “Montparnasse Bienvenue.” Director Léonor Serraille tells the story of a young woman — without friends, without a job — who is learning to live her life through new experiences. Léonor was awarded the Caméra d’Or for directing at the Cannes Film Festival. At 9pm, viewers can enjoy Ridley Scott’s classic “Thelma and Louise,” in which two women go on the run to Mexico.

A cocktail party with a buffet and wine will be available to attendees between the two sessions. Participants may choose to attend one of the two sessions. The buffet and wine are included in the price of the ticket. French Morning is a partner of Uptown Flicks.
