How to Sound More French

Being fluent in another language is never just about remembering how to ask where the library is or where reflexive pronouns go in a complex sentence. There are a million little ticks that tip native speakers off to your level of proficiency, and some of them are super easy to learn and make you sound about ten times better, even if you did just use the wrong conjugation of “manger.”

In this video, Damon Dominique of the popular YouTube travel and language channel Damon and Jo explains how he went from a proud ‘Murican in small town Indiana to a fluent French speaker in a few short years. Some of his tips involve French filler words that are absolutely essential to know, while others center around how to handle your vowels in a way that won’t immediately reveal you as a middle-America mall dweller.
