Lanvin stunned fashionistas everywhere last week with a delicately beautiful Spring/Summer 2017 collection at Paris Fashion Week.
At first look, the collection seems like an homage to 20’s fashion with feather collars, bauble necklaces and satin flapper dresses. But thrown in the mix, there are slip on shoes covered in sparkles, metallic necklaces that drip down between satin suits, strappy sandals and fluffy cardigans. It’s a perfect combination of new and old. The color scheme of mostly blacks, whites and tans, help to accentuate the prettiness of it all: it’s soft, but also sparkly, flowery, but also pinstripe.
Responsible for the beauty of this new collection is Bouchra Jarrar, a new designer at Lanvin who some argue could be the savior of the brand. Set at the Hotel de Ville in Paris, the models walked under gorgeous chandeliers in a mirrored room with light trance music playing in the background. The the show was romantic, creative and, like all good art, intellectually stimulating. On top of all that, it was wearable, something that is often rare when it comes to high fashion design.
