Everyone knows that if you’re in Paris and you don’t get perfect photos of yourself in front of the Eiffel Tower to post on Insta, then you might as well not have gone.

The only problem is, if you’re trying to get that iconic shot, odds are a thousand other people are trying to do exactly the same. You can crop photos, you can stand on things and angle the camera up, but in the end you’ll probably still have a few hundred photobombers screwing up that perfect ‘gram. That’s why vlogger Jay Swanson made this video, to show you where to go, how to get there, and how to avoid tourists in order to get those real professional shots.

Bad news, you really want to go early if you’re going to avoid people at places like Trocadéro, Sacré-Cœur, and Notre Dame. But isn’t that sunrise lighting worth it anyway? And Jay and photographers Puxan and Ruben Plomp also have some secrets that even the tourists don’t know about to bypass the crowds.
