A few weeks ago, the infamous French actor Gérard Depardieu visited New York. Not for a film release, but to promote his autobiography, Innocent, available this November 1.
After a remarkable evening at French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) in New York to discuss his book, where he made statements like, “My mom is dead with a diarrhea. Humanity is like that, like a diarrhea,” Depardieu payed a visit to the Literary Show Project, a literature-focused talk show. French journalist Prune Perromat spoke with Depardieu for the episode, produced by French Morning.
Depardieu broches topics ranging from his relationship with Vladimir Putin and his thoughts on President Trump, to the difficulty of writing and his musings on culture. The resulting conversation is a winding tour through Depardieu’s bon vivant lifestyle and philosophy. The interview is in French, subtitled in English.
Published in 2015 in French, the English translation arrives on American bookshelves this November 1, through Contra Mundum Press. Innocent is available for pre-order on Amazon here.
