If you grew up in the US, wine might be a bit intimidating. It’s probably something you drink on special occasions or pretend you always have around the house even though you mostly bought that kitchen wine rack in case you ever throw a dinner party.
So if you end up in France — or even in the French section of your local wine store — you might be a little overwhelmed. Fear not, because vlogger Not Even French has teamed up with wine expert (or, at least, tour guide) Girl Meets Glass, in order to give you a beginner’s guide to French wine. This is not a sommelier course. This is a collection of useful tips for normal, everyday people who like to drink wine but don’t know a Cab from a Merlot or which bank of Bordeaux produces the best seasonal yield.
This mini tutorial is also full of honest insights into the difference between wine culture in France and elsewhere. One of the main lessons being, ironically, that the people who make the best wine worry the least about which wine to pick. So make like the French, and have a little fun! The best wine is always one that makes you happy.
