“Ecological awareness and the desire for a healthier lifestyle far from the bustle of the big cities is drawing a new generation to remote regions in search of a more meaningful life.”

So explains this video from France24 describing the growing trend of millennials abandoning the corporate ladder and big city life in favor of farms and small businesses in more remote areas of France. Pauline and Ana, for example, are two young women who decided to revive and rejuvenate the idea of the local grocery store with Todo Locaux in the small town of Saint-Félix-Lauragais. Similarly, Laurent Gatien left the business world to go back to the family goat farm, where he breeds goats and makes goat cheese.

These promising young entrepreneurs have taken their skills and training and applied them to short food circuits and local production and development, just going to show that changing mentalities and priorities are making a real difference in what France looks like today.
