Diner en Blanc returns to Washington D.C.

A group of people sitting at a table in front of a crowd

Elegance, beauty, and “head-to-toe in white” are the coming month’s buzzwords. Why? The ephemeral pop-up party, Diner en blanc.

For the fourth year in a row, Washington D.C. hosts the secretive Diner en Blanc. On August 26, thousands of strangers will come together for a giant picnic, brining their DIY decor, home-cooked meals, and innovative costumes in tow. The location for the festivities will only be revealed a few hours before the event begins.

The rules are the same every year: wear (your best) all-white, bring white tables and chairs with white table cloths, and be prepared to out-do your neighbor on dinner and decorations. Those attending find the party by going to designated meeting points around D.C. and waiting for one of the Diner en blanc guides to escort them to the party, where music, dancing, and jovial company await.

Members, friends of members, and those not (yet) affiliated with Diner en Blanc can register and get on the waitlist here.
