Concerts, Films, Parties: Washington DC Celebrates Francophonie in March

Orchestra conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin

March is Francophonie month, and Washington DC certainly isn’t missing it. For the D.C. Francophonie Cultural Festival, screenings, concerts, and culinary and literary events will celebrate the diversity of the Francophone world.

Among the proposed events: guided tours in French at the National Museum of African Art with the Alliance Française of DC, a screening of the French-Tunisian film “Beauty and the Dogs” at the Maison Française (March 6), a concert with the Philadelphia orchestra conducted by Quebecois conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the Music Center at Strathmore (March 6), or La Grande fête de la Francophonie, the can’t-miss party closing out the month of Francophone celebrations, again at the Maison Française at the Embassy of France (March 23).
