French Morning recently ran a blurb referring to a BBC article "Why don't French Books Sell Abroad," whose title says it all… or nearly. Laurence Marie of the French Embassy says "Au contraire".
The French complaint that Anglo-Saxon culture is overtaking their own is commonplace. In terms of books sales abroad, the BBC writes, there's no denying that French books fall way behind works from the US and the UK.
Controversial French philosopher Michel Onfray heads to the United States to introduce his new book, L’Ordre Libertaire : La Vie Philosophique d’Albert Camus. Onfray speaks in defense of Camus and discusses his own rebel image and how it seems to garner a more supportive audience in America.
