Like France, Washington D.C. offers an abundance of ways to celebrate on July 14th. Here’s the rundown:
The Comité Tricolore Washington DC invites all France-lovers to celebrate Alsace through its wines and gastronomy. The long list of participants includes Central Michel Richard, Convivial, Esprit du vin, Ladurée, Le Café Descartes, Plume at the Jefferson Hotel, the Ritz-Carlton and the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center. There will also be an auction, which is already available online. Tickets are available online, ranging from $95 to $175.

The French hotel Sofitel will celebrate on July 14th with a picnic, accompanied by live music, cartoonists, tricolore snowcones, and rosé and champagne at a special price. A prize will be awarded for the best French costume, so don’t be shy! This event is free.
Saturday, July 14 at Lafayette Square, 806 15th Street Northwest, from 2pm to 4pm.
The U Street Music Hall club is organizing a French evening with DJs-in-residence Will Eastman and Ozker. The musicians will spin French techno music from the years 1997 through 2002. The club will give out French flags to fans, while artist Robin Bell will transform the nightclub with projections inspired by the national French holiday. Tickets are already available — $10 before the day of the show and $12 at the door.

The Cork & Fork wine shop in Logan Circle will offer wine tastings from different regions in France that will last 15-20 minutes. Tickets are on sale — just $5.

In the Petworth neighborhood, the Petworth Citizen is also offering a wine tasting. The wines will be selected by Jeff Snow of Glou-Glou Wines and Chantal Tseng will provide commentary.

The famous French restaurant Le Diplomate invites you to celebrate July 14th “with je ne sais quoi and a little naughtiness.” The evening will begin with a concert hosted by a DJ at 9:30pm, followed by a drag show at 10pm, and the party will continue until 2am. There will also be a cartoonist to draw caricatures. A special menu will be offered with house cocktails. In the afternoon, from 11:30am to 5:30pm, the restaurant welcomes children and their parents to celebrate July 14 with music and activities.

They can’t call themselves “Bastille” and not dedicate a week to July 14! The owners, Christophe and Michelle Poteaux, will host several events to celebrate the national holiday including a “French restaurant week” from July 10-15. Enjoy a three-course lunch menu for $25 and dinner menu for $35. After the meal, relax at their petanque court.
