Summer is over, but a girl can still dream right?
And there’s nothing better to daydream about during a boring meeting or lecture than the sunny city of Marseille, in the south of France.
Though Marseille has a bit of a reputation for being more gritty than some of the other Provençal towns like Nice or Cannes, it’s exactly that grittiness mixed with a stunning landscape, a clash of ancient and urban architecture and the Mediterranean lifestyle that makes Marseille so special.
On a sunny day, the blue skies meet the blue seas while the buildings, which are mostly cream or white, come out of the side of the hills making a cool color palette. In small crevices and walls between buildings, street art brings pops of colors to the narrow roads in the older neighborhoods like Le Panier. Palm trees stand tall, green against the blue sky. The Notre Dame de la Garde stands tall on top of a hill, and at night is lit up like a beacon in the distance.
Even if you’ve never been to Marseille, you can still daydream about it thanks to a skateboarding Marseillais (which is what you call someone who is from Marseille) who made this beautiful video of a day spent skating through Marseille. Watch and dream:
