At the end of the 19th century, Impressionism ran out of steam and gave way to a variety of different styles. The Phillips Collection in Washington D.C. pays tribute to the work of French Post-Impressionist artists in its new exhibition “Bonnard to Vuillard: The Intimate Poetry of Everyday Life,” which runs until January 26, 2020.
In total, sixty works by Pierre Bonnard, Édouard Vuillard, Maurice Denis, Aristide Maillol, Paul Ranson, Ker-Xavier Roussel and Félix Vallotton, figures of the Nabis group of artists and the driving forces behind the transition to Post-Impressionism, will be on display. Their work reflects the eclecticism of artistic production at the time. The exhibition includes tapestries, paintings, stained glass and ceramics.
