Barely a week after Le Chandeleur, the internet is threatening to throw Anglo-French relations into border war the likes of which the Channel hasn’t seen since the Rebellion of ’88. That’s 1088, to be sure.
Somewhere in the world, a multi-national office, including one Frenchman, had been celebrating Mardi Gras the traditional way: with crêpes. And someone have cut into the pile of papery pancakes like it was a common gâteau. The poster said it was an Englishman, but later the word was that it could’ve been anyone in the office: Russian, Irish, Mexican.
It all started on Imgur, of course, but quickly made its way to Reddit, where it caught fire.
Libération called it a “declaration of war,” another reason to massacre England in the closing game of the Six Nations rugby tournament.
In typical fashion, Buzzfeed France gave an explicit imagery warning, which would have been helpful to anyone with a screen resolution so low that the next image wasn’t immediately visible to them:
They added, editorially, “AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH.”
