The 7 French Artists Performing at Coachella You Should Know

Coachella: everyone knows about it, everyone wishes they could go to it, everyone envies the 99,000 people who can go to it.

For the 2017 edition, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Empire of the Sun, Mac Miller, and even DJ Khaled will keep the beat raging during this six-day music festival. Unfortunately for those still without tickets, the festival sold out in three hours back in early January. Those with tickets (or enough money to buy them off a friend) should capitalize on the opportunity to see these seven stellar French musicians featured at the festival. But whether you’re going or not, we all have access to the beautiful, bottomless internet, so there’s no excuse not to check these incredible French artists out.

The 20-year-old DJ Valentin Brunel, or Kungs as he’s known, will spin at Coachella on Fridays (April 14th and 21st). After having burst onto the scene in 2016 with his video “This Girl“, this protégé of David Guetta will be making his first appearance at the California music festival.

Another performer new to the valley, PNL will be making their Coachella debut on Sundays (April 16th and 23rd). Two brothers from the southern suburbs of Paris make up this dynamic rap duo. PNL’s third album Dans la légende went triple-platinum in France in December 2016 only three months after its release in September.

Talented turntable wizard, DJ Snake will perform on Saturdays (April 15th and 22nd). Best known for his collaboration with Lil Jon in the chart-topping hit “Turn Down For What” (written solely by DJ Snake), this 30-year-old Frenchman has had huge success in the US. Major Lazer and Justin Bieber are just two of his recent collaborators.

Saturdays should be renamed DJ Appreciation Day, because two more French spinners Brodinski and Breakbot will be on the scene. Breakbot is most known for his remixes, like “Baby I’m Yours,” which was nominated for two awards at the UK MTV Music Video awards in 2010. Brodinski, in addition to making music, is a producer whose credits include co-producing “Black Skinhead” by Kanye West.

A regular at festivals, Madeon will take the stage on Sundays (April 16th and 23rd). At only 22 years old, the musician from Nantes has already worked with Lady Gaga and Two Door Cinema Club. For his best work, listen to his 2015 electro album Adventure. In 2016, he collaborated with Porter Robinson for a stellar track, “Shelter“. It’s got a mystical vibe to it that’s sure to make it an ear-worm.

Finally, the legendary duo Justice will be dropping in, dropping sick beats, and dropping jaws. Radio silent for the past three years, the group is back in full force with their 2016 album Woman, and their video for “Fire“, featuring Susan Sarandon(!) in an homage to Thelma and Louise.
