100 Years Of French Beauty

By now, you’ve probably seen at least one, if not more, 100 Years of Beauty video floating around on your Facebook feed. WatchCut Video made the very first 100 Years of Beauty video last November, showing 100 years of beauty in the United States. The video went viral and a year later, they’ve made 25 more, featuring beauty history from countries all over the world.

This month, they finally made what we’ve all been waiting for: 100 Years of French Beauty! Honestly, who knows what took them so long, especially since France has been heralding the beauty industry for ages.

Starting in the 1910’s, the video shows a beauty look from each decade, including really subtle, yet important differences like how women in Vichy France looked compared to women in the Occupied Zone during World War II. And even though some of the looks are similar to those from the USA video, they skip a few of the more embarrassing looks that women in the U.S. tried (cough, cough, 1980’s poofy hair). Basically, French women have been being chic for a very long time.
